A woman, who carries an emotional wound inflicted on her by a rapist, marries for the second time. Soon afterwards, she is reunited with her ex-husband, whom she once loved, for the first time in ten years. The drama portrays how the woman fluctuates between somewhere she can finally settle down and her ex-husband's love. Reiko Ohara pulls out all the stops in her long-awaited appearance in this two-hour drama. Her enthusiasm is due to the fact that this episode is directed by Yasuo Tsuruhashi, who previously directed another Thursday Golden drama “Loss" (broadcast Feb 83) and achieved high viewing rates (24.0per cent in the Kanto area and 27.0 per cent in the Kansai area). In that episode, Ohara gave an excellent performance as a down-to-earth widowed mother, In Ohara's words, Tsuruhashi had succeeded to “bring out a new character in myself" in “Loss."
Director Tsuruhashi accomplished the feat of winning the National Arts Festival Excellence Award (organized by Agency for Cultural Affairs) for two consecutive years from last year to this year (1984 & 1985) and has also won the Best Individual for the Television Awards, and captured the spotlight in the world of TV. For Ohara, it was her first ever rape scene, which she performed with enthusiasm as the pathetic female main character. Combined with the sensitive and sensuous portrayal of the affairs of the heart of a man and a woman in Tsuruhashi's characteristic and beautiful imagery, this drama is well worth watching.
